Huck Ridge Software
Why “Huck Ridge”? I live in the foothills of east Tennessee, in the USA, on, you guessed it, a ridge. My wife and I wanted to name our home, and we tried a lot of ideas, and “Huck Ridge” won. The phrase “I’m your huckleberry” was made famous by Doc Holiday in the movie Tombstone. It turns out that’s a real thing the actual Doc Holiday said, it’s not something the movie made up[1]. World Wide Words says “To be one’s huckleberry — usually as the phrase I’m your huckleberry — is to be just the right person for a given job.” So when we wanted to name our home, the thought that it was “just right” really struck a chord with us. And of course when I wanted to start selling my own software, the same idea seemed like a natural fit.
